The successful 4th and 5th Steps – ජයග්‍රාහී සත්කාර 4 සහ 5 වන පියවර

Are Sathkàra programmes only valid to Colombo? We were able to give a positive answer to that question by bringing smiles to more than 300 students of 2 rural schools of the Ampara district in the Eastern province of Sri Lanka. I would like to revise the memories of Sathkara 4^th and 5^th steps which happened on 20^th July at Paragahakale Central School and on 21^st of July at Hingurana Siddhartha Primary School.

After receiving many donations of pens, pencils, erasers, rulers and pastel boxes, other stationary items and also school bags mainly from the publicity we got from our Official Facebook Page and with the help of students of our university, Team Sathkàra headed to Ampara with boxes and boxes of donations.

On the 20^th of July we were able to hold a valuable programme on Life Education and Leadership Training at Paragahalakale Central School to more than 250 students. The author of the blog thinks that it’s more suitable to use the word “programme” for this event rather than “seminar” as this programme was way different than the traditional boring lecture. It was full of practical activities and many interesting games.

Even though it was a rural school we were amazed to see the talents of the students at many times when they were given the opportunity to sing songs and viridu (kind of folk song sung while beating a hand drum).
At the end of the programme the gifts that we brought for them was distributed among 40 children who were from poor and needy families. We gave away these donations very confidentially without hurting their self-respect in front of other students of the school.

We were really appreciated by the teachers and the principal of the school and all the feedback forms we received from the students that participated for the life education and leadership training programme were positive.

Next day we conducted the 5^th step at Hingurana Siddhartha Primary School.

It was a primary school which only had 55 students for the whole school. A tragic incident had happened on the day we arrived that school for the Sathkàra programme and the blog author thinks that it is important to make a note about this incident in this blog post too. The water motor which was used to pump water to quench the thirst of these little kids had been stolen on the previous night and the principal was very disappointed and worried about it. Even there are security guards in urban schools in Sri Lanka; schools like these cannot afford to have a security guard.

Team Sathkàra thought that the programme should be continued even amidst difficult situations, and we held the programme successfully. We had to apply a totally different strategy for the programme of these students as they were all between 6 years to 10 years.  Team Sathkàra had to act, sing, dance and also draw painting with the small ones. We used all these activities tactically to teach them some valuable lessons of life. We also used cartoons to make things more interesting.

We were able to distribute the stationary and other gifts we brought among all 55 students of that school and they gave us beautiful paintings and essays as souvenirs.

At the end of the both programmes the principals of both the schools said the same story: “We were a little frightened at first when these youngsters asked permission to conduct a programme at our schools. But the way they conducted the programme was marvelous. Like some professionally trained lecturers they used many psychological ways to convey their messages to the children.

The teachers and the principal did one last request as we were leaving their schools. That is to “come again next year”

සත්කාර වැඩසටහන් මාලව කොළඹට පමණක් සීමා වූ එකක්ද? එම සැකය දුරු කරමින් අම්පාර ප්‍රදේශයේ දුෂ්කර පාසල් දෙකක දරු දැරියන්ට සිනහවක් එක් කිරීමට අපට හැකි වූවා..
2015ක් වූ ජුලි මස 20 දින – පරගහකැලේ මධ්‍ය මහා විද්‍යාලයේ දීත්, ජුලි මස 21 දින – හිඟුරාන සිද්ධාර්ථ විද්‍යාලයේ දීත් සත්කාර 4 සහ 5 වන පියවර සිදුවූ ආකාරය මතකයට නගන්නට කැමැත්තෙමි.

ප්‍රධාන වශයෙන්ම අපගේ Facebook පි‍ටුව  හරහා ලද ආධාර වලිනුත් අපගේ විශ්ව විද්‍යාලයේ සිසුන්ගෙන් හා ඔවුන්ගේ යහළු යෙහෙලියන්ගෙන් ලද ආධාර වලිනුත් පොත් පත්, පෑන්, පැන්සල්, මකන, පාට පෙට්ටි, අඩි රූල් ආදි ලිපි ද්‍රව්‍ය හා පාසල් බෑග් විශාල ප්‍රමාණයක් අප වෙත ලැබුණා. මේ සියළු දේ ‍රැගෙන සත්කාර කණ්ඩායම අම්පාර බලා පිටත් වූවා.

ඒ අනුව ජුලි මස 20 වන දින පරගහකැලේ මධ්‍ය මහා විද්‍යාලයේ සිසු දරු දැරියන් 250කට අධික ප්‍රමාණයකට නායකතවය සහ ජීවිත පුහුණුව පිලිබඳව වටිනා වැඩසටහනක් කිරීමට අපට හැකි වූවා. එම වැඩසටහනට “සම්මන්ත්‍රනය” යන වචනය නොයොදා “වැඩසටහන” යන වචනය යෙදීම උචිත යැයි බ්ලොග්කරු සිතයි. එයට හේතුව ගතානු ගතික දේශනයකට ඔබ්බෙන් ගිය ප්‍රායෝගික ක්‍රියාකාරකම් ‍රැසකින් හෙබි වූ වැඩසටහනක් ඔවුන් වෙනුවෙන් අප ඉදිරිපත් කළ නිසයි.
එම පාසල දුෂ්කර පාසලක් වූවත් එම සිසු දරුවන් නම් ඉතා දක්ෂ බව අපට හැඟුනේ එම වැඩසටහන අතර්තුරේදී විවිධ අවස්ථා වල ගීත, විරිදු ආදිය ගායනා කිරීමට ඔවුන් සතු කුසලතාවය අප දු‍ටු නිසාය.
වැඩසටහන අවසානයේදී එම පාසලෙන් ‍තෝරාගත් අසරණ දුගී දරුවන් 40 දෙනෙකුට අප ගෙන ගිය ලිපි ද්‍රව්‍ය හා පාසල් බෑග් බෙදා දෙන ලද්දේ ඔවුන් අනිත් ළමුන් ඉදිරියේ අපහසුතාවයට ලක් නොවන පරිදි ඉතා රහසිගතවය.

එම විද්‍යාලයේ ආචාර්‍ය මණ්ඩලයේ සහ විදුහල්පති තුමන්ගේ නොමඳ පැසසුමට ලක් වූ අප හට අප කල වැඩසටහනේ සාර්ථකතවය පිලිබඳව සාක්ෂි ‍රැසක් එක සිසු දරුවන් වැඩසටහන අවසානයේ සිඟිති අකුරින් ලියා ලබා දුන් පත්‍රිකා වල තිබුණා.

පස්වෙනි පියවර ලෙස අප ජුලි මස 21 දින  පියමැන්නේ හිඟුරාන සිද්ධාර්ථ විද්‍යාලයටයි.

එය ප්‍රාථමික විද්‍යාලයක් වූ අතර සිසු දරුවන් 55ක් පමණි ඉගෙනුම ලබන්නේ. සත්කාර වැඩසටහන කිරීමට අප එම පාසලට ගිය දවසේ තවත් සෝචනීය සිද්ධියකට එම පාසල මුහුණ දී තිබූ අතර එය මෙහි සටහන් කිරීම වැදගත් යයි බ්ලොග්කරු සිතයි. එම සෝචනීය සිද්ධිය නම් එම පාසලේ පුංචි දරුවන් හට පිපාසය නිවාගන්නට, මූණ කට සෝදාගන්නට වතුර සැපයූ වතුර මෝටරය පෙර දින රාත්‍රියේදී සොරුන් විසින් ගලවා ගෙන ගොස් තිබීමයි. නාගරික පාසල් සඳහා අරාක්ෂක නිලධාරීන් සිටින මුත් මෙවැනි දුෂ්කර පාසල් සඳහා එවැනි ආරක්ෂාවක් නැත. එම අත්දැකීමටත් මුහුණ දුන් අප සත්කාර වැඩසටහන බාධක මධ්‍යයේ වුවද ඉදිරියට ගෙන යායුතු බවට අධිෂ්ඨාන කරගත්තෙමු.
එම පාසලේ සිටි දරු දැරියන් වයස අවුරුදු 6ත් 10ත් අතර වූ නිසා වෙනස්ම ආකරයේ වැඩසටහනක් කිරීමට අපට සිදු වූවා. විටෙක රගන්නටත්, ගයන්නටත්, ඔවුන් හා එකතුවී චිත්‍ර ඇදීමටත් තවත් විටෙක කාටූන් පෙන්වමින් වැදගත් පාඩම් ඔවුන්ගේ කුඩා ඔළු තුළට සූක්ෂමව රිංගවන්නටත් අපට හැකි වූවා.

එම පාසලේ සිසුන් 55 දෙනාටම වැඩසටහන අවසානයේ ලිපිද්‍රව්‍ය බෙදා දීමට අපට හැකි වුණු අතර ඔවුන්ද අපගේ වැඩසටහනේ සාර්ථකතවය පිලිබිඹු කරන්නට අලංකාර චිත්‍ර සහ රචනා අපට සිහිවටන වශයෙන් ලබා දුන්නා.

වැඩසටහන් දෙකම අවසානයේ විදුහල් දෙකේම විදුහල්පතිතුමන්ලා ඇතුළු ආචාර්‍ය මණ්ඩලය අපට පැවසූවේ එකම කතාවකි. තරුණ කැලක් විසින් මෙසේ වැඩසටහනක් කිරීමට අවසර ඉල්ලූ විට පුංචි දෙගිඩියාවක් ඇති වූ නමුත්, එම බිය දුරු කරමින් අති සාර්ථක ලෙස ප්‍රවීණ දේශක මඩුල්ලක් මෙන් ළමයින් සදහා ඉගැන්වීම සඳහා වූ මනෝවිද්‍යාත්මක ක්‍රමද නොදැනුවත්වම භාවිතා කරගෙන වැඩසටහන පැවැත්වූ බවයි.

ඉතින් තවත් කතා අනවශ්‍යය, නැවත් වරක් තමන්ගේ පාසල් වලට පැමිණෙන ලෙස අප නික්ම යන මොහොතේ විදුහල්පතිතුමන්ලා දෙදෙනම අපහට ආරාධනා කළෝය.
